Smoothie Recipes

Mixed Berry Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries

  • 1/2 banana 

  • 1/2 cup nonfat yogurt (vanilla is good)

 

  • 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder, optional

Chocolate Mixed Berry Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries

  • 1 scoop protein powder

  • 1 tbsp cacao powder  

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • handful of spinach

 

Want it thicker? Add a few ice cubes.

Here are a few tips for making a smoothie:

 

Basic Ingredients:

1 cup liquid, 1 cup fruit

--------------------

Try adding something smooth:

1/2 banana, avocado,

nonfat yogurt or kefir

--------------------

How about some extra goodness:

protein powder

cacao powder

handful of spinach or kale

peanut or almond butter

herbs and spices:

cinnamon, mint, 

fresh grated ginger, turmeric, rosemary, cayenne.

 

Add ice if you want it chilled.

Orange-Berry Smoothie

  • 1 cup orange juice

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries

  • 1/2 banana

 

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, optional

* For less sugar, replace 1/2 cup oj with 1/2 cup water

 

Try adding 1/2 tsp of turmeric to any smoothie. This magical spice is a powerful anti-inflammatory and has a light scent of orange and ginger.

Blueberry Spinach Smoothie

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/2 cup lowfat yogurt or 1/2 avocado 

  • handful of fresh spinach

  • a few cubes of ice

 

  • 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder, optional

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries

  • 1/2 banana

  • ½ to 1 tsp. fresh ginger

  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut water

  • 1/2 cup blackberries

  • 1/2 cup blueberries

  • 1 lrg or 2 small kales leaves, stalk removed

  • 1/2 avocado

Try using avocado

as your base for a rich, smoothie texture. It's a good choice for a low sugar option.
